Anyone here from the Ft. Collins area? I'm looking into taking a couple classes this summer and would like some feedback on others experiences.

There are 2 LDS's in FC. Alpine Scuba on the corner of Prospect and Shields, and High Plains Scuba off College on Harvard.
They both have pools, are well equiped, and are conveniently located.

Alpine Scuba is PADI...Open water dives at Homestead Crater, Utah
High Plains is SSI.....Open water dives at Blue Hole, New Mexico

I have spent time at both shops, and just felt more comfortable at Alpine Scuba, where I will be taking the Rescue Diver course next week. I can give you a report at the end of Feb., when course is completed.

I stopped by both shops today and agree I felt more at home at Alpine. I actually live in Cheyenne, Wy so its a bit of a journey anyhow. My wife and I plan on taking a refresher course in Aprilish time frame and will most likely go with Alpine. I would definately like to hear your experience though as I plan on taking several classes this summer hopefully.

i got my cert from high plains... it was through the college so it was a good deal, but I have since changed over to Alpine because it is alot closer to my house and they seem to have better deals...dive dog where u live at? hit me with a pm maybe we could seek a dive in somewhere....

Hmmm .. You would think that the SSI shop would be more compeditive since SSI's headquarters is in Ft. Collins.

BTW, do you have information on the Homestead Crater in Utah?

What *Information* RU looking for?

Here are some links. You may want to try a search because that is what I did :D

The vis here can get pretty bad if there are a bunch of people diving. There is ZERO visible life in the crater.

I've not dove it, and don't have a huge desire to do so, but know a LOT of people who have done certifications there, so my *experience* is second hand. :14: Maybe I'll dive it one day if I happen to be in the area just to give it a go.

Just do a search on Homestead, Utah and you can find plenty of info. Very different and a nice place to stay (but a little pricey) if you are going with the wife. I have been out there about 6 times now and have enjoyed it everytime. There is also a golf course there if you go in the summer. AWESOME Fudge in the shop.
