As far as my problem with the back-inflate bc, it just about solved. One of my problems was not having enough weight. When I switched from a Jacket BC to a Back-Inflate (BI), I thought since I had less material and padding with the BI and no weight belt, I could drop about 4lbs. Using about 12lbs seemed about right and I was able to get down okay but keeping trim and down under gradually became a problem, difficult to vent the bc. I would have to get horizontal and shake the hose just to vent air. After the dive, I went to change tanks and rest a bit. On my next dive I went down a little easier and maintaining position was a little better but not much. After my final dive, I started to clean my gear when I went to clean my BC is was really heavy, it was 1/2 full of water!!! After awhile of thinking about it, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I needed more weight to compensate for my Aluminium (+ bouyancy when emtpy) tank. When I first entered the water everything was fine until I started depleting the air in the tank. As the tank became more bouyant I vented air from my BC until it was empty. Then when I needed to vent more and couldn't I tried to get horzontal to release the air, instead of releasing air I was actually filling my BC with water!!! The next day I added the 4lbs back and had little problems.

Of those little problems one over which was caused by the Air distribution in the BC. A narrow channel between the two sides of the BC sometimes trapped air on the side opposite the vent, a small shoulder rise and I was able to vent it. The other problem was the proper weight despersal between the trim pockets and the side dump pouches. I haven't solved that one yet but I will.

So to make a long story short, don't forget to take the bouyancy of your tank in account when weighting yourself. I just might solve your problem like it has for me.

Thanks
