IDS3, I can't quite peel back the shoulders to get my arms out of the suit. No amount of wriggling or contorting seems to help. I need someone to give a small downward tug on the shoulders from behind -- once it's started, the rest is easy. I'm wondering if there's any clever way to attach a string of some kind so I can do the tug from behind myself.

I think you are on the right track. Take a piece of 1/2" webbing, something like a dog leash (Take collar off, LOL) or that type of material. Get it sewn on the back by someone who does upholstery work, with proper stiching and a reinforcement piece on the inside of the suit should do it. I won't cause any problems, nobody I know with a back zip wetsuit complains about the pull attached on the zipper. Over a period of time the suit will also become more flexible. I hope this helps, if not, let me know

You want to get a front zip wetsuit off easy? Wear a rash guard and it slips right off. I discovered this after many times being 'trapped' in my suit after dives.

I just got a Waterproof W1 5mm and am annoyed that I can't get out of it without help, though I'm tantalizingly close. Anyone have tips or tricks for this?

Great suit otherwise, btw.

My 3mm is front zip. When getting out I reach behind (or in front if you prefer, at butt/waist level) and begin pulling the left sleeve off an inch or two at a time, then let the let the suit ease down that much, up the arm to the shoulder. After doing this three or four times I've usually gotten it down enough where I can get my shoulder out. The my arm will slide out. Once one arm is out the rest is easy. They key is to be very patient the first couple of minutes. Saves on the frustration level and makes it easier to doff.

My son-in-law has shoulder problems. He bought a front zip wet suit but still could not get out of it. Now he use a bamboo back scratcher to move the material back and off his shoulder. He now has no problem doffing the suit.
