I read your other thread.
I think you covered the pros and cons well enough for someone that hasn't tried either yet.
The best thing you can do is try the system that appeals the most to you and don't worry about others.

Get some help/training in one method and give yourself fair time to improve. If you don't like it then simply take on learning another system as a new challenge. Keeps things exiting. You may end up in RB territory, who knows.

I have been all over the world with my SM setup and not once has an operator even hinted of it being an issue on a boat or otherwise.

Depends on the dive and the boat, but I answered SM because it is easier on my back, if the dive/logistics permit it. I also REALLY like seeking my valves and hoses.....

Sidemount, easier on my back and I can easily look down at valves for leaks.

I voted sidemount because that's the path I took. Admittedly I haven't tried backmount doubles. Both are mission specific, which is also how I view my rebreather.

There isn't a right answer. You know the pros and cons, just go and try them.

At first, when people talked about backmount and sidemount, I wasn't thinking about tank configurations at all...
