We have rented a 3 bedroom home on half moon bay that is very nice. It is called Balem Ek and it is (or at least was) owned by the person who operates Travel Services of Akumal.

Try looking at Vacation Rentals By Owner. You can save some money for sure. I've used VRBO twice and had good luck.

We've been to Akumal a couple times and are going back in December. www.locogringo.com has lots of houses and condos. They are a good, reputable company.

There's also Vista del Mar condo's on Half Moon Bay. They've got studio, 2 brdm/2 bath and 3 bdrm/3bath units. We've stayed there. Good location, good prices, well maintained. www.akumalinfo.com

Some of those prices for Condos are insane!

You can get an all inclusive hotel package for some of those prices.

Not sure which condo prices you're looking at. We're staying in a 3bdrm/3bath with AC for $130/nt. That's for the unit, not per person. I don't know of any all-inclusive where we'd be paying $22/nt per person. The condo pricing is per night for the unit, and most have discounts for weekly or longer.
