Clown Triggers are just one of the reasons I got interested in the marine environment.

W-A-Y back in the early 60's, Jaque Cousteau had a show about something and I can clearly remember seeing one of those and thinking it had to be a fake, there's no way a fish could look like that! Little did I know...haha! I promised myself I'd see one of those when I 'grew up'.

Tortuga Roja - guess you don't make it to SoCal very often. We're just a plan ride away! :)

Dee - do you have any pics of the Juv. yellowtail Damsel?

What's really fun is that right now the water is completely full of baby blacksmith as well.. they're half blue, and half yellow. Clouds of them everywhere around Catalina - but they don't exactly sit still for pictures!

I've never gotten a good photo of one. But my friend Dave Read aka drdread has several on his site. Here's just one of them...

BTW...Dave's photo website has an excellent photo tutorial on it. It's geared more toward film than digital (Dave hasn't seen the light yet! :eek:ut: ) but there is lots of great info there. Work through the lessons and you'll see what I mean.

Not quite what you expected, but these were some pretty bright colors out at Catalina's Casino Dive Park last Fourth of July.

Yep that's the Hawaiian name of this and a few other triggerfish. Also called the Lagoon Triggerfish, this is the prettiest. Most locals just call them humu's cuz it's easier.

Tortuga,
This reminds me of a song and as soon as I can remember it, find it and convert it to an MP3 I'll post a link to it.

I found the song. It's My Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii - sung by Kalani Bright

"where the humu, humu humus go swimming by"

I can't seem to get it into MP3 format however. I'll keep trying.
