It's funny how these guys almost always hang out in pairs. I almost never saw one all by itself...

Reef butterflies at Geyer Bank, a very remote bank in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Date: July 7, 2001
Depth: 118'
Equipment: Sea&Sea Motormarine II, YS-60 strobe, Fujichrome Sensia 100 film, 16mm lens, f/8, distance 1 meter

The most notable fish species on Geyer is the Reef Butterflyfish, schools of which number in the thousands. It is the predominant species on both peaks. Also present there are Sargassum Triggerfish, which I have not seen before in the Gulf of Mexico.
