That seems pretty restrictive. I’d think the industry would establish higher entrance standards.

The restrictions have nothing to do with the entrance standards or abilities of the divers.

The above tells me I could have the fitness and disposition of Heimlich from “A Bug’s Life” and still make it as a salvage diver.

I wouldn't bet heavily on that.

Most public safety divers are prohibited from going past 100ft due to OSHA and insurance regulations. We are required to have a deco chamber on site, which is a pain if you don't have a vessel large enough to support it.
