Cool idea, and the price is right.

Currently, I do mine on the free subsurface program and sync the data file on google drive. Unfortunately I don't believe the android JVM will run subsurface. Your method has some appeal in that it doesn't require a program to update really.

thank you. I havent heard of subsurface. ill have to check it out.
 
There is an iOS app that allows you to interface with the free divelog at
divelogs - Online Dive Logs.
Subsurface will also allow you to upload directly to that site so that your log is always on your phone if need arises.

Yep, that divelogs site rocks. Log details, profile graph, pictures, videos, embedded google map of your dive location, all your dives shown on an interactive map, etc.
