I'd send the whole overpressure valve back & get a new one, of course, call the seller 1st & give him/her a headsup------sometimes you just don't get what you overpaid for........

btw, I'd think a factory defect etc is cause(ie not your fault)......

I upsized the string on one my valves using 2.5 mm kernmantel string from a local outdoor store. It's a bit thicker and "stiffer" than the stock string. Works well.

That said, I have Tobin's replacement OPV on a couple of wings, and the 3 mm string and complete valve redesign is very slick and makes it very easy to find the string with thick dry-gloves.

Reckon I will at some point check out Tobin's OPV. I've only really heard good things about his kit and already have some dainties from him already which I like.

Off topic: I have been somewhat surprised at the additional difficulty in finding a doubles wing OPV as opposed to a singles wing OPV (generally I'm wearing gloves). But that's topic for another thread I guess. In the meantime I'm happy they're sending me another wing as they know it's fairly urgent.

They're different? The OPVs on all my wings (and my SMBs to boot) are all the same.

Yeah, i've also not noticed any difference between singles and doubles wings.

When Tobin first introduced his opv replacement, he mentioned there were a few different designs, sometimes between generations. But I've found recent generation Halcyon, DSS, Oxycheq and Agir wings to all use compatible opv threads and measurements. The only true oddball was my Apeks wing, which had completely different opv and power inflator designs from everything else.

Sounds like you got great service from Halcyon in solving the problem; that's nice to hear. I like it when a company will fix your problem first, and then worry about the details later (within reason of course). Such as them sending you a new wing right away.

TSandM, Gombessa - it's the position of the OPV in relation to me that is different.

Singles rig it's about 3 inches over my top left bum cheek.

Doubles I'm guess it's higher and further left. It's not a big deal, it's just I'm not used to reaching to this position whereas with singles or jacket BC i get it first time, every time. With the doubles rig I'd say I get it third time, most times. The wing also has the floaty plastic on the end of the OPV cord bit which I'm considering chopping as this doesn't help me locating the cord.

I found the same thing when I started diving doubles. Trying to remember that the OPV is in a different position when I reach for it was my first step. It gets better/easier with time.

I removed the little knob-a-magic. Just until the knot, slide the knob off and re-tie a good-size knot.
