Found this on the River bottom in October this year, with a couple of the many guys I dive with. This capstan is off a old lake schooner or wood steamship. I would date it 1870-1890's.I beleive it came off in a collision with another ship, when they pulled apart it fell in the river. It has several 3" red oak planking on it. This is a very rare find, better that an anchor.

You are finding some good treasure....keep it up.....

I am still amazed at the tractor you found that was weighted down in the river by that sweet anchor......:eyebrow:

Go to found on river bottom in underwater treasures. Their is a large front end loader pulling out a anchor friends and myself pulled up this past Summer. Or go and look up my thread starts.

Now that I read the post better I sense the sarcasm. I saw that really big anchor already. I was thinking that you actually found some tractor also.
