Diver who was working near Fort Pierce city marina found dead | www.palmbeachpost.com
The Fort Pierce Police Department is investigating a diver who was found dead Tuesday morning near a city marina.
The diver has been identified as 40-year-old Shawn Elliot. His body was found in the waterways of the Fort Pierce City Marina, said city police spokesman Sgt. Dennis McWilliams. Officers responded to reports of a drowned diver around 8:11 a.m.
An ambulance took Elliot to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Workers told police Elliot was working underwater when they noticed he wasn’t breathing.
It’s unclear who Elliot was working with.
McWilliams said investigators do not suspect foul play but the investigation will continue. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will assist in the investigation.
