Fort Lauderdale Wrecks

[FONT=&quot]I need advise on two wrecks in the Fort Lauderdale area. Because of time restrictions, I can either dive the Rodeo 25 or the Mercedes but not both.

Which dive should I choose?

Well, you could dive both, there are definitely charters that would run that trip with three or more people

Both are good dives, but if I had to pick one over the other I would go with the Rodeo 25.

Rodeo 25!!! The Mercedez is more like wreckage now and not really impressive. The Rodeo is beautiful. Big cudas and great swim throughs.

If you get Sport Diver Magazine there is a photo of the Rodeo in the July issue.

Both are good dives, but if I had to pick one over the other I would go with the Rodeo 25.

Indeed they are. But who will ever forget this picture of the Mercedes I:

While the Rodeo 25 is the "better" of the two wrecks, there's a nice reef to dive drifting north and westward off the Mercedes I.

I will never forget how much fun my dive club had cleaning the Mercedes off prior to her sinking. She was a terrific dive before the hurricane broke her up so badly.

Yes, I remember when a dive club could adopt a ship, clean it for sinking, and it got done pronto.
It's too bad they've made reefing these derelict vessels so complicated. Too much government is not a good thing.
