I was going thru my log book today (updating, checking things out,) when I realized I have been VERY lax in adding my total dive time (for my own curiosity, to see just how long I've been underwater btw it was 32h30m in 66 dives)

When I started adding minutes together, my brain fried!!

So, i did a quick search for a calculator for adding minutes and found the following website:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/timescalc.html

There may be a better one out there, but it worked for me. It gives you a running total, and it only took about 10 min to add them all up... actually, it took longer for me to flip the pages than it did to enter them, but that could be because I did data entry for years.....

So, I did my hubbies too, 112 dive for 56h44min

Anybody else have thier totals??

We have the same quandry flying as diving: logbooks keeping track of time. I just divide total minutes by 60 giving an integer and fraction. The integer is hours and the fraction x 60 is minutes.

example:

477 minutes

477 / 60 = 7.95

.95 x 60 = 57

7 hours 57 minutes

totally have my totals.. keep it running with each dive: 52 logged dives, 39h51m logged hours

I'm going to make a note of that lil formulat mempilot :)

Why go to a web site?
You probably have Excel on your PC
Just enter a cell at the top of a column with a convenient date & time say 01/01/01 00:00 and then type in below this in a column the hours(?) and minutes of each dive eg 0:35.
When you finish pull a total of the column and you will easily see the total elapsed time. You can do simple subtractions of start date and end date to calculate total elapsed time and also play with personalised result formats.

I'm not going to show an example because this depends on the date format in each country.

4,879 dives.....I've written down the time & depth on them (on my computer....I don't keep a paper log any more)....but haven't totalled the time after the first few dives...and I don't think I'll go back & add all them up now!

I found DiveRecord.com where there is an Excel-based bulk upload. Download the spreadsheet, fill it in, hit the upload button, and check your dives out on the web! Rather painless and you can add dives online as well and bulk-download them to a spreadsheet. As of today, 19hr 2min in what my dive computer calls 42 dives, but in my log book I keep track of Open Water dives separately from confined water (pool) dives and OW are around 30 now.

Thanks for sharing....I never added up, but I bet I have a couple'a days....lol

Err.. just keep track in minutes. Divide the result by 60 when you want to figure out number of hours, but just write minutes in the book.
