=======================================

Pirates Week in Coming to the Cayman Islands! Local dive operators are putting together some very interesting events around this yearly event.

Hosted annually by Divetech in West Bay, the annual Underwater Treasure Hunt is an event not to missed for divers or snorkelers. During the Underwater Treasure Hunt the reefs are strewn with coins to collect, and each coin has a matching prize with it!

Many folks show up in pirate’s regalia but any ocean attire is appropriate. Following a briefing on the ‘rules of engagement’ you’ll set off on a fantastic treasure hunt to find your coins and while you’re at it, have a great dive or snorkel too enjoying the clear, calm waters of Cayman’s piece of the Caribbean Sea!

The fund-raising event takes place on Sunday, Nov 15 starting at 1:30pm. The entrance fee is $25.US and includes tanks, weights, snorkel equipment and snacks/soft beverages during the prize giving ceremony afterwards, with over 80 great prizes from local businesses! Prizes include merchandise, gift certificates for tours, diving and attractions, retail, restaurant vouchers and more.

It’s a great family event, from kids to ‘seasoned’ pirates, all are welcome to come and have fun in the sun and sea, and get rewarded for your participation.

All funds received go towards the Pirates Week Committee and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association for community service work. Divetech donates all tanks and time to host the event. Divetech and Cobalt Coast Dive Resort host and sponsor the Underwater Treasure Hunt each year.

No reservations are needed, just come up for 1:30pm. Prize ceremony will be at 4:00pm.

Great turnout. 100+ divers for 80 prizes which ranged from 10-200$ in value. Lots of fun.

As a note, the shore diving at Cobalt Coast is great ; had never been there before. I saw the largest lobster I have ever seen, a turtle, an octopus & many, many fish. Will definitely go back there
