But I guess I don't get why people get their hackles up over DIR.
Well, now that our resident DIR advocates have agreed to accept that DIR stands for "Doing It Rite" I don't think you'll see any more raised hackles.
Rick :)

I think you should put your money where your mouth is and take a fundamentals class though. Then come back and see what you think...

You and Spectre...better yet, skip it and just take Tech1.

I have done cold water, low visibility, wreck penetration, night and current in fresh & salt water, including ice diving...

I voted No & No in the poll - Given the option I would vote No and mddolson has encapsulated how we should all be thinking perfectly (in my humble opinion.)

Rather than DIR we have GIR (Got It Right)

I am sick of the argument though and am willing to agree to disagree...you dive your way and I'll dive mine...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Let's just all leave it at that.

DIR says that your most important piece of equipment is your buddy

I could'nt disagree more with this statement. Although it may sound like music to our ears, it just does'nt hold up logically.

My most important equipment is my air system ( supply, delivery ). Notice how I said system, not piece. Your buddy is not a piece either, than again what do I know?

My air system keeps me alive underwater, not my buddy. Now lets see, I suppose I can go diving without an air system and use my buddy's. So then his, and mine, most important piece becomes, lets see, I think I got it now! Another buddy. :D

Heck, with enough buddies we can safely cross the ocean, all sucking on the primary buddies long garden hose. :jester:

My most important piece of equipment is my brain. My second most important piece of equipment is my buddies brain.
