I only saw one octopus the entire trip and this was it (grilled octopus appetizer at Oceana):

I think the food at the Occidental Grand is quite good - especially their specialty restaurants. The Allegro is OK but clearly a step below. Avoid the swim up bar at the Allegro - it has a yellow hue.

The food at the various full-service restaurants at the Occidental Grand wasn't bad, but nothing worth the hassle of having to make separate dinner reservations each morning (on their schedule), and pack dress clothes to get in. Won't be doing that again!

I wouldn't exactly call a pair of dockers and a button-down shirt "dress clothes". At least the A/C was working well inside, unlike the French restaurant at Secrets.

The main advantage of the Royal Club, besides having yet another restaurant to eat at, is being able to make all the reservations through the concierge whenever you want. Going by tips on TripAdvisor, I made all mine the day I checked in. I didn't think much of the Italian restaurant, and the Royal Club restaurant was inconsistent, but the Mexican Steakhouse was delicious both nights I ate there.

You know every time I have gone to El Moro, Kinta, Parrilla Mission and Del Sur it was awesome and consistent.

Just saying.....

The AC in El Moro, the garden at Kinta, and Parrilla was inconsistent.......

I've never heard of those all-inclusives. They must be new.

When I was done eating, I simply walked out. No worry about a bill. A short stroll to my room. No worry about a taxi. And the view from the two beachfront restaurants was decidely nicer than the view from El Moro IMO.

Inconsistency shows that the potential is there to get things right, they just need better management to get things right all of the time.

I guess you didn't see that nice sandy.... er, pile across from El Moro. And the beautiful water. Across at the house of the guy that washes cars. I mean if he is washing while you are there. Of course at El Moro I mostly can't take my eyes off the margaritas and the mole....

And no dusty jaguar at your second rate hash houses, I bet!

CVchief, I think you forgot about the THEME of this Thread..... food at the All-inclusives. I asked nicely for people to put info about other restaurants and opinions in another thread. This is meant to be JUST about the AI food for people who stay at them, for whatever reason.

thanks for your cooperation!

I couldn't agree more. Especially for breakfast when I'm on a tight schedule.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a nice sandy beach surrounded by palm trees a few feet from the water. That's my idea of a Caribbean vacation! The sand pile at El Moro is nice, but not what we're looking for. And isn't it more of a rock pile anyway?

I like the fact that we can sit, enjoy our coffee and nibble on fruit until I see the dive boat. Then stroll over to the pier without having to worry about paying a bill. All my gear is on the boat and ready to go. No dragging that crap around. What could be nicer than that! I really do love diving in Cozumel.
That brings us to the wetsuit. I don't want to sit next to that wet smelly thing. And there's no way in hell I'm going to wear it. I think it's important that the dive op keeps the wetsuit. I don't want to drag that thing around ether.

One of these days I'm going to take one of those hobie cats out for a snorkel. There's a couple of buoys about 200 yards out. The big snorkel boats tie up there. I'm getting off topic though, sorry Robin.

Sorry.... But it was Moss. Isn't that ok? :hijackedthread:

The food at Hotel Coz has been rated as anything from hideous to good. I think the AI at Hotel Coz is OK, not great. I think a lot depends on what you are there for and your personal agenda. When I go down without my wife, I am content to eat there and maybe hit downtown once or twice during the week. When I go down with my wife, we eat downtown every night.
