What's the deal with "legal" parking up there? I left my car in the lot a few times last year and never got ticketed, but it was pretty much in the off season so I don't know how hard they check.

I haven't dove Folly in a while and need to get back up there. Now, if I can just get another day off this month....

To me, Folly Cove is one of those dive sites where it makes no sense to park illegally. You can drive down to the lobster shack, park legally, and walk back in less than five minutes. Why risk the parking ticket over a five minute walk? I guess I could understand in the dead of winter, but there's just no reason not to make the walk right now...

I agree with you and the times I've been there, I've dropped my gear and made the walk back. In this case the lot was empty when we arrived and our vehicles took up three spaces leaving three or four still available. Had it been summer, I would have made the walk. I was actually thinking about bringing my mountain bike to make the trip to and from the car. Anyone do that?

Haven't brought a bike, but as long as you can lock it up, then there's no reason it wouldn't work. This is definitely something to do when diving Nahant. For Folly, though, it's such a short walk I don't think I'd bother. Would be a great way to dive Whale Cove, though.

Is the easy entry at Folly Cove seasonal, or is this just the way that the beach is changing?
