Folly cove and back beach dive up date

did one tank each today...
was in back beach @ 7.30 did one tank dive
vis was good water temp was nice. nice day for diving

packed up the stuff and went to Folly Cove my first time there
what a nice dive sight. did the rock wall on the left...
vis was nice ... water was nice and flat up top.

im going back to back beach tomarrow for a 2 tank dive
ill let you all know how it was

nice day and nice viz about 20.

Sounds good!

Was the fish silvery with lots of thin horizontal darker stripes down the side? If so it was a striped bass. There isn't really any other fish around here that looks like it so it is pretty hard to mistake.

We had a class out at Back Beach yesterday, and came across 6 stripers in one spot, and another 2 in another spot. So I would say yes, that was your first bass encounter.

I showed up at Back Beach Saturday evening for a night dive with a group.

They told me that they were actually in the water at Back Beach Saturday about to descend when some other diver came out of the water and reported that she saw something she thought might be dynamite. The whole beach was evacuated. It turns out that it was from a recent fireworks event.

By the way, we did the night dive and it was great.

ok on Saturday we all got there at about 7.30
in the water @ 8am... there was about 10 of us

on the way back one of the guys found a bunch to tubes
all duck taped together.. looked like ok on Saturday we all got there at about 7.30

she the DM called the cops. about 10 mins later every one and there brother was there... cops .. cops in boats
dark black SUV's FBI maybe ? 4 or 5 cop divers .. and some other guys (city workers ?)

but they were yelling get out of the water .. get off the beach ... that's y we all went to folly cove for the 2nd dive on Saturday .

the funny part was it was just a bunch of old fire works form the forth lol

Well, that's funny, but also sad that we have to live in a world like that. Remember the days when you would have just picked it up and examined it, just to see what it was? Sigh.

On the plus side, you got to experience Folly Cove!

That's too funny...I was at back beach 2 weeks ago, saw some of those tubes underwater and picked them up, knowing that they were spent fireworks tubes. Did my part for underwater clean-up...
