Hi guys, a bit of humour : other travelling option that could be considered is to sell your JJ and get yourself a Choptima that fits in your carryon luggage with a weight of 7Kg only! You would even be able to drop the Choptima before a tight restriction to go on OC if needed ...
Taking off a breather before entering a tight restriction on limited gas supply... What can possibly go wrong? :D

I’ve been flying with mine in a Pelican 1535 Air, which is the maximum carryon size. The canister with head in fits perfectly lengthwise and my BOV, travel stand, handle, loop hoses, and some small odds and ends fit alongside. Counterlungs, wing, regs, and light fit in my backpack so I can carry on the entire unit and keep my checked bags under the weight limit. The TSA usually does a secondary screening but hasn’t been any trouble other than the time an agent unpacked everything to measure a box wrench I carry for the stand bolts. 🙄 They lose interest as soon as I tell them it’s diving equipment.
Wing nuts work for the stand. Then you don't need to carry the tool.

I transport mine in a Pelican 1606 Air. I regret not buying a larger Pelican case.

In order to pack it, I have to fully disassemble the unit, including taking off the stand.

However it is impressively dense. I can fit every single component (except the stand) inside the case, and even squeeze in a few tools / bailout regs. Fully crammed in, it comes in at 31kg, just under the 32kg limit.
