Flying to Roatan

Suggestions for getting there. I'm sitting on my balcony in Belize awaiting the wind to die down. I'm liking this place immensely but the wife is tired of big swells and putrid exhaust post dives. She loves Roatan so I'm researching. Has anyone flown SWA to Belize City then hopped on Tropic or Maya to Roatan? Anyone priced that out? Would weight restrictions limit you? Just working out missions. I'm disappointed that $750 round trips to Roatan versus $200 rt for SWA to Belize City is roughly the same fuel burn as I'm a former airline guy and know the numbers. I'd like to see people stick it to United to lower rates as I want to take two legs to get to Roatan. A hassle but would be worth it if it worked out cheaper. Perhaps I've had too much rum.

Would never fly SOSA. I fly Southwest most everywhere. Just would like to fly them to Roatan to gouge United.

I flew BZE to RTB on Tropic Air in January and have no complaints. It was about $200 round trip and weight limits were same as United as far as I recall. There is a 10% off coupon code if you google "tropic air coupon code"

I flew to BZE in December (2015) and from there hopped a TropicAir to RTB. Great flight (as long as you don't mind flying in a single-engine 12-passenger plane).

I didn't run into any trouble with luggage restrictions - the only thing that got me (and it's something I should have thought about in advance) is that there is no carry-on luggage on the small planes and what you had as carry-on on your other flights are now going into the luggage handling areas at BZE. If you have cash or expensive toys, you need to be ready to get them out and into your hands quickly..
