Anyone have any opinions of Florida Keys Dive Center in Key Largo. Planning a trip down there in December and would appreciate any advise.

I'm not familiar with them. There's an operation with the same name in Tavernier about 10 miles south of Key Largo.

I use them for air fills, there boats are big and they are a few minutes from the oceanside, the shop seems friendly enough. mm90

Isn't that the Upper Keys Dive Center (around mm 88.5)?

FKDC is either in Tavernier or Islamorada... It's just south of Conch Republic (Tavernier Creek), but I think their info calls it Islamorada. Anyway, I dove with them one day about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I had no problems with them: professional, reasonably courteous, etc. They got me there and back; I'm alive to tell the tale. Good operation from what I know about them.

I did a night dive with them a few months ago. They have a huge boat, and therefore lots of divers, but they have good ladders and plenty of room to put your gear on. I had no issues with them, but I prefer smaller 6-packs.

No, it's four shops - Tavernier Dive Center, Cristal Clear Charters, Diver's City USA, and FlaKeys Dive Center. They are all on "old A1A" oceanside across from Conch Republic.

I had 3 two tanks morning dives, and one night dive with them about two years ago. The captain and dive master were very courteous and professional. They do take a lot of people out on their trips, but the good news is that they basically let you dive however you want.

For example, on a 40 fsw reef dive, you can stay down for an hour and twenty minutes, they do not care. The other operators I have used give you a time limit, which in hindsight seems a little safer, given the fact they really do not know when to expect you back.

Last spring I dove with Quiescence Diving Services in Key Largo. They were a little bit more expensive, but only took out six divers at a time. The captain was extraordinarly friendly and let us collectively choose our sights.

I am thinking of going to Key Largo in the second week of December. What are the conditions like then? What thickness wetsuit/semi-dry would you recommend?
