I take it daily 365 a year. Gee, its great to be blesses with year round allergies.

So far no problems that I am aware of.

ScubaMarc:
Many divers on this board say do not take Sudafed. What do you guys think about Flonase or Clariton?

Flonase works good when you have seasonal allergies. An allergist can do testing and tell you what allergies you have and when they are in season. My doctor puts me on meds 2-3 weeks before a season starts. It is tailored to that particular season. Flonase has to be used for about 2 weeks to be fully effective. I use tyenol allergy and sinus, and alfrin for sinus and I never have a problem. I have taken Clairton and it doesn't work for me in general, Zyrtec works for me. I would find a doc who is a diver and consult them. I have had allergy problems (pollen, mold) all my life. Going diving actually helps me a lot because I am away from all the stuff that bothers me. My ENT gave me a prescption for FLonase and told me to use it for a week before a big dive trip. I am not a doc but there are many things that can help. My husband always takes SUdafed and a lot of people I know do. Just make sure you get something that last at least 12 hours if you are going to use something and take it 30 minutes to 45 minutes before you dive. Good Luck

Many people, myself included, have sinus problems year round. I have taken Flonase and it raised my blood pressure to a very high level. My Blood Pressure runs normally around the 105/70 level. With Flonase it jumped up to 140/95. Needless to say I don't take it anymore. Clatitin didn't work on me either. Of course, YMMV... but let me tell you about what I found that works for me...

It has been my experience that a prescription medication taken temporarily has not been the best course of action. I take an Alfalfa tablet once a day during the year and that seems to be working real good. It takes it about a week for it to get into your system good, but once it do it works really good. I've been taking Alfalfa for about 5 years now and have only had to scrub 1 dive due to sinus problems.

Of course, I am not a doctor and this should not be construed as medical advice. It's just what I have found out about myself!

I will have to try that myself. It couldn't hurt.
Thanks for the info

Hey...nothing beats a quick call to DAN. I consulted with them after my doc prescribed Zyrtec and Flonase for me.

Finding a MD that dives is key here. They understand a little better what your needs are. My MD has me on Flonase if I know I'll be diving alot (summertime) then just over the counter meds (claritin D 24hr) for the once a week dives I might luck into. For me, its not allergies, its for my bummed eustachian tube. *GO see a diving doctor** (hehehehe, was getting a visual on that, sorry, hehehe)
