I'm use to flying Semi Direct (with one stop through Houston) but now I'm looking for flights for 9/8-9/15 Newark to Coz and they're either 3 stops, or they have me going into Cancun and using AreoMexico, or do the Bag Drag to the ferry. The issue is also our trip is 4 diving adults. So that means at the very least a Suitcase and a Dive bag per person. Our dates are not negotible either we need to leave on the 8th.

Is there anyway around this hassel? Are there any other options?

Continental or its partners offers service between Cozumel, Mexico (CZM) and New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty) on Sundays, Mondays, Saturdays.
This may explain it. I just checked Mon-Mon and it's through Houston.

I know i need to fly on tue

Looks like you'll be going through Cancun...

looks that way any suggestions or advise on the bag drag

Just checked Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com, they had flights from Newark to Cancun under $300 on those dates with only 1 stop. JFK was slightly less for the same type of flight. There were plenty of weekend and Friday flight directly to Cozumel if your dates were flexible. Try looking into Westchester County Airport (HPN). Jet Blue had a flight for even less than Newark on your dates. USAir had a flight form Stewart (SWF)for a bit over $400 as well. Tuesday to Tuesday is hard to CZM. I live up in New Windsor and always check my options. Westchester works out well and most times it is cheaper than the metro airports. The long term parking is poor at Westchester so I rent a car from Enterprise at Stewart and drive myself. There is no dropoff fee so it is very inexpensive.

Hey Garry,
The bag drag is not that bad, I found fares on Continental for under $300 per person. Plus the $10 for the bus and $14 for the ferry each way....
Let me know as soon as you figure it all out so I can make the diving reservations with Christi. I want to try to get a boat for us Weds. and Thurs.

Are the 4 of you traveling together? If so and if a few bucks extra is not a big deal, get a private van of your own for the trip to PDC. The bus is great if you have to. It tends to make stops along the way at various resorts(not always but you never know). It is slow and depending on when you get out of the terminal you may have to wait for a half hour to hour.

For twenty five bucks more, $6/head you get a dude with your name on his sign who meets you, drives your group in your van direct to PDC and leaves immediately. Depending on how the ferry schedule falls and your timing you could potentially save yourself an hour or more off the bag drag.

One I've used, there are others as well: Airport Transfers - Cancun Valet

Just a suggestion, but having done it both ways, I usually book my own van even if it's just two of us. As an added bonus have him stop for some cervezas for the ride.

Just FYI------the bus from the airport makes no stops until it arrives at the bus station in PDC.......it's the VANS that make stops along the way unless you have a private one as suggested above................Betsy
