They work underwater at depth? This surprised me a bit, though I guess I don't know much about flashlights. Are these just regular flashlghts?
Thanks,
Spencer

Some may to some depth but not being sold for the purpose it's a crap shoot.

The light that survives a short shallow dive where you turn it on once if at all may not be the light you want to be exploring with on a longer deeper dive.

I know I have also seen some lights that I wondered about. To be appropriate the case needs to be watertight, the switch needs to be sealed and it all needs to work when under pressure.

I posted that.

Home Depot. They currently carry PrincetonTec and I have bought Pelican products there in the past. Items vary by store and region- the website is not indicative of in-store stock. They seem to market these on displayers near the registers as well as in the proper section.

In no way are they marked with the words "SCUBA dive underwater" or anything like that.

Were they identical? Yes... except for the price.

In 2007, I bought a handful of the yellow Pelican Sabre 2000's for $19 each~ with batteries. Closeout? Maybe- but worth my second glance.

Check local Sportsmen's Gun Shows. If you know the product, you'll see all sorts of SCUBA rated flashlights being sold for "other applications". If you know what you are looking for and don't care if the word SCUBA is absent from the descriptive packaging, you can get off pretty cheaply. Get a copy of the CampMor catalog...a lot of closeouts. Camping and Power Emergency Lighting

The gun shows shows bring out vendors who are content with a 5% markup.

I see UK4c (not the new LED technology, but quite dandy for something you're just going to destroy, anyway), stacks of them all boxed up at gun shows- $14 a unit... with Eveready batteries in them. I bought ten of them a few weeks ago. They'll keep.

What did they sell for? $30 or so?

It pays to know what you are looking at, even if they don't mention that sacred special word~ SCUBA.

You can always stick one of those tiny DAN stickers on them. :D

i work in the warehouse for a power plant.
we stock pelican sabre 2000 flash lights.
my co-workers love them.
they get dropped and kicked around.
we also stock spare bulbs and lenses.
when i go on holiday i take mine.
so far she has stayed together @ 157'

Those sound like very good deals, and depending on the type of bulb they're using, it may be possible to put an LED replacement bulb in them.

I replaced the bulb in my 3D Maglite with the LED version and the difference in light output is stunning; according to tests the light output is about double the original bulb with about 20 times the runtime.

So does anyone sell canister lights that are not labeled for diving? :)

The company I worked for provided employees with flashlights, Pelican flashlights. Life was good.
