OK - I am amazed and delighted to read the responses to my original post. Thank you all - that was fun! The main conclusion I have reached is that I need to find a different job where I'd have sufficient leisure time to think about bagged flashlights in depth, and post to this board. My action plan - I shall buy a dive light (the UK SL4 if I can find one locally before I fly to Cozumel on Monday). Second, I'll take a small but sturdy ordinary flashlight and freezer bag on a dive, just to see what happens (assuming I pass my open water certification and am, in fact, allowed to ever dive again). I'll have to read through the pre-inflation theory posts again, but either way, I'll let you know what happens.
