Are you interested in fitness for scuba diving. There is a new resource in the dive community - me! I am looking forward to meeting other divers, especially those of you who don't exercise. I am hoping to get discussion going about exercise for any and all clinical conditions, such as high blood pressure, overweight, diabetes, arthritis, etc. Do you have one of these conditions and currently exercise regularly? If you're not into fitness yet, feel overwhelmed about it, and/or don't know what to do. Let me encourage you! See my article in the Journeys Listing at www.Miss-Scuba.com - The Mermaid Workout. This is a light-hearted guideline for exercise. There is a lot of information out there. I have summarized it for you in a research article at Exercise Information and Discussion for Scuba Divers. Let me know what you think. I'd love to learn from your stories and experience.

Hi Scubafit!

Welcome to SB! What an interesting idea about diving and fitness. I've seen people both in shape and out of shape do well while diving and also have problems. I'm sure we'll be able to learn a thing or two!

Have a great day!

Hi Bob and Tina,

Thank you for the welcome to the SB. I'm looking forward to a growing connection with the diving community. Have already received an invitiation to guest speak at a monthly meeting of a local dive club. There is so much to discuss with regard to physical fitness. Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome to the board! Have you dropped in to the Fitness section of the board yet? Sounds like you'll be a great asset there!

Welcome to the board Diver. You can check out the fitness forum if you haven't done so yet. Fitness and diving go hand in hand to me. I train hard for my diving and take it seriously. I am also a fitness trainer. You will feel at home here on the board. Again welcome.

we should do a Miss Scuba workout camp for a week somewhere... what do you think?

we are doing a yoga and scuba weekend in Mexico in November!

Hi Miss Scuba,

Just got back from Cayman Brac!

A workout camp is a great idea! I am still travelling until August 20th. Will brainstorm ideas and stay in touch.

Hi Scubafit! I am new to the board today, and really happy I stumbled across it as I am working towards getting back to the sport. I think the fitness element is important for life in general, and admit I had some problems with my asthma and a temporary IBS gotten from a bad muffin man, and am working on losing weight.

My goal is take a class towards the end of the winter, early spring, lighter and in better shape. I used to be in good shape, and fell out of it for all the dumb reasons life gives us. But I have a elliptical trainer, a new BowFlex, and mountain bike, so it is my hope in the next four months to be in good shape. I also started Weight Watcher Point system, so if I keep to it, I should be fine.

Only bummer is a bone spur being treated right now makes some other stuff impossible like running at the moment, but I can use my elliptical, Bowflex, and should be back on my bike this weekend. And I hope to pull on my fins, mask, and snorkel, and play with fishes snorkeling.

I find having my home gym keeps me honest, since my park work hours are crazy. I am up to one and half hours four nights a week combining my two machines and stretching and callies.

By next summer if I keep myself honest, I should be in good shape. I want to lose 35 pounds properly, not fast and dumb.
