From the spots, I would say that it is a Rio Grande Perch. The colors are off, but given the vis in Deep Hole on Sunday that is my best guess.

That's exactly what it is.

I have also seen it called the Rio Grande Cichlid. Had an aquatic biologist in one of my classes a couple of years ago who looked it up and printed some material on it. See a lot of them at Travis.

Does anyone know what disease many of these fish have all over Texas? A whitish colored fungus that grows on their sides in clumps. I first noticed the disease at Aquarena a few years ago but have seen it in multiple locations more recently. I have only seen this fungus on the Texas Cichlids (pr. Sick-lidz), not on other fish species. Have picture of this at home, can post it later if needed.
