The Montana is a great wreck. Boilers and engine are great for photos, or to just sit and watch other divers swim around. If you get blown out, come on up to Cheyboygen. We are doing a beach dive on the old lumber mill. Stop at Johnsons motel on RT 23 on the way out of town, and they will give you directions back a couple of blocks to where we will be diving.

If you have any $ left after Alpena, there is a Meet & Greet at Gilboa on the 16th & 17th.

;) I pretty sure the Meet & Greet is on Sept. 23 & 24.

We dove the Dunderberg and the Morrell w/ Gary this summer and had a great time on his boat. He made sure prior to the charter that someone was available at the Sanilac shop.

Thanks for the info on Traders. That would be quite a drive I guess for a dive in a quarry but it looks interesting. I guess I will just have to stick to Whitefish pt.

P.S. The meet and greet is as CMAN says; on the 23/24th of Sept.

Actually, Gary just gave the number to the trip leader. The trip leader verified that they would be open.

I still have to see about meet and greet. I may get stuck at work :( .

Thanks Betail - I did check out the website and saw the cakander, that is going to help alot... Thanks for the invite too... I posted on another thread but I'll mention it here too, I anyone is interested in a dive on the Nordmeer and Montana this weekend I'm told there are spots available... Call Steve at 810-9876263

OK, lets hear about your dives in Alpena???

Well, the first day we got blown off the Nordmeer and Montana... we turned for barge # one, but... half of us were green and stayed on-board. First time I ever got sea-sick.

On Sunday we tried for the Grecian but wen't back to the Montana again because of the conditions, I wasn't real comfortable with the swells but tried to get in anyhow... Lessons learned: If you nervous about the conditions... abort the dive. I don't want to go into it but...
The Montana dive for me was my "Pay Attention" moment, after the Montana the group went to the Monohansett, a relly nice site, (calm waters) one of the other guys got some good pics, This site has a large debris field, a large boiler, prop, and scattered artifacts.

The Montana... more experience, some adjustments to my equipment, and I'll be back. This one pretty much changed the way I think of diving... added humility and took out some invincibility. (I needed that.) Thinking about writing it up for the incident thread... lessons to be learned, have not decided yet.
