Went out with the Spectre boat on Saturday to Anacapa. It was raining dogs and cats all day but otherwise, the sea condition was quite nice. Temp was a consistent 53-54F. Viz is also on par with average.

Went to Cathedral Cove (2-dives), Canyon and finally finished off at Garden Spot.

There were three large groups of sea lions at Cathedral Coves. They were all separate from each other and were quite frolicky. Saw lots of massive lobsters at all dive sites, even saw a nice 3-4 ft angel shark and a horned shark probably about 2.5-3 ft.

It was also very cool to watch raindrops pitter patter on the ocean's surface from below.

Sounds like you had some nice diving.

It was the best outing in quite a long time, Dave.

I've never seen such a massive gathering of sea lions outside of Santa Barbara Island. Seeing an angel shark is always a blessing plus the innumerable monster lobsters at the same time.

I saw two scallopes that must have been close to 8" diameter and a bunch of smaller ones. Even a couple of abalones as well. The sheepheads were monstrous and the rubber lip perches weren't exactly tiny either. It's always nice to dive at a preserve.

More than made up for two weekends ago where both of my dive trips were cancelled. Now, if I can only convince my boss to reassign me back to SoCal again.

Hi HT,

Sorry I missed you but I'm not working on the Spectre as much as I use to. Glad you had a good time.
