I decided to put some new first stage hose protectors on my hoses. Is there a trick that makes this easier? I've got hand cramps and I'm only on the second one.

Any suggestions would be great.

Water w some some baby shampoo or dish soap should do the trick

OK - I suggest you don't put the second one on, and you take the first one off. You don't need them, they could trap moisture and abrasives causing damage, and potentially conceal problems that would be visible to the naked eye if you could see the hose ends in the ordinary course of business.

I agree, you're likely going to cause, more than prevent with those...

I agree with RJP and Plumb. I service vintage regulators (and modern ones too), and the ones with the worst corrosion around the ends of the hoses always had hose protectors on them. Those protectors do nothing at all besides trap salt water in them. I have some very rare and expensive regulators, and not a single one of them has a hose protector on it. You can do whatever you want, but if it were my reg I would cut them off and toss them in the trash.
