Hey all,
Thanks for the advice on my previous thread. My first rig trip went great. I personaly didn't nail any of the fish in the pictures, but I did learn some stuff and had a great trip. All I can say about diving a rig is; WOW! I've never seen anything like it. We were blessed with light seas and mild current. And did I mention the manta ray?
We went out on Mike McGleenys boat, the Orion to the south Baker rig. It is 50 miles out, so it was a long boat ride especialy for one who gets sea sick (after my 3rd dramimine I was feeling much better). I'm looking forward to trying it again this fall, if I can scrape together the $$$.

John

PS; those to AJ's were taken by McGleeny in somewhere about 180 fsw. He was below some cross beams and out of sight, but I was at 150fsw and he was well below me!

Glad you had a good time! I'm of the same view - Rigs are simply AWESOME!!!

Went last year off of Troy Wetzel's boat and hopefully, can go later this year :)

Is this a commercial boat, I am coming home to Louisiana in a few days, I was thinking of getting on one of the Flower Garden trips but Ive always wanted to learn to spearfish. Anyone know of any boats in Gulf coast area I could go spearfishing on?

It was a charter. 6 divers @ $250 a head. Captain Miglinis(don't know If I have the last name spelled right or not) operation is called Out to Sea Adventures. I'd highly recomend him. Three of the others I was diving with have been on chartered spearfishing boats before and said he was the best they'd been with. You can book him direct or go through Frogman's dive shop in Port A.

If the Aggressors and Peter Hughes knew how great rig dives can be, I think they'd run some trips out to them. The photography is wild!

But I'd rather go on a smaller fish sticking boat!

Nice fish!

Chad

FYI I have been informed the operator of Out To Sea Adventures, and the captain of the Orion is Mike Miglini, not Mc Gleeny.

That's alot of rig diving Mike. I assume you have access to a boat. I will consider myself lucky if can get in another one this fall.

Yes, me and my dad share a boat. I think talking him into diving last year was the best thing I have done. I only make 2 dives on a trip so I think it is time to get a few more tanks so I can get 3 dives on each trip.
