My first ever scuba dive went pretty good today. It took me a little while to get my left ear cleared but when it did I was fine. Did all the skills with no problem. The first class was boring but what can you expect, it's school. Still feel my cramp from taking my fins off at the end of the dive (cressi-sub 3000). Hopefully I will not always have these cramps in my calf.

Thanks
James

Congrats on a successful first class, it's an awesome experience. Your leg muscles will get used to it, it just takes practice and effort. As soon as you start feeling the tension building, stretch.

If you can get out skin-diving betwen classes that will really tone your legs for diving with fins.

Did you reallly find it boring?

Enjoy the classes.

don't believe it...... sorry... but your ears will never get better and will always hurt..... the cramp in your calves will increase exponentially ever time.... your best bet would be to quit diving NOW before the pain becomes unbearable. besides: dive boats are getting tooo crowded as it is...

hehehhehehehe - JK

you have just started the most wonderful adventure of your life..... welcome to the fold. soon the SCUBA part will be as 2nd nature as riding a bike, but OMG..... you'll never forget the views!

Do some stretches before your pool session. It's no different than any other form of exercise...Stretch and warm up first...Calves, quads and hamstrings...Clear your ears every 2 or 3 ft. In time you will be more accustomed to clearing but seriously...every 2 or 3 ft for now. Finally... I would recommend you being careful about boredom in your classroom sessions. They may save your life one day. They are not taught to bore you. They are taught to educate you...So pay attention. You will be a better and safer diver for it...Have fun and be safe...

Congrats on your first dive!

I'm a little surprised that you found it boring. Have you scuba dived before anywhere? Personally, I was like a kid in a candy store the 3 weeks ago the first time I was able to kick around and breath under water.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your class and I recommend reading as much of this forum as you have time. It has been a great resource for me!
