Yep, that's burn out alright. I can sometimes fis small spots with the burning tool but this was kinda large for that. Here's a quick fix but i can't really say it's any better!
I'm still dealling with burnout, too. Maybe you can set the exposure compensation a little lower. I'm sure someone with more technical knowledge can help you better!
