Listen well to the dive briefings and then follow the dive plan. If you are always finding yourself deeper than you intended to go then you have some work to do.

Ya, cool eel experience but never trust an eel. Now that you felt one you never have to do that again, right?
 
Feeding and petting moray eels is dangerous.

I took my PADI UW Photography class in Thailand from a diver who routinely fed and played with a moray eel. It was great for others to witness this...until that one day when he lost his thumb.

He now has one of his toes to replace the thumb. Nice guy but learned a hard lesson.
 
That is one scary story, and everything that is wrong with some tourist dive operations rolled into one experience. Be thankful you're alive and have all of your fingers intact.
