Mario,

Just booked passage to go to Catalina 6/24. Going to try to get in a few dives at the point. Water is a balmy 66 now, wondering if you might want to join if you are not too busy.

My dive buddy and me should get there around 10 and going back to Long Beach at 6:30.

Can you make it?

There are two boats I know of going to Catalina on Sun the 24th, are you going to be aboard the Bottom Scratcher or the Magician?

I have tenative plans for that weekend, but would love to join you if they fall through.... or if you guys are interested in diving the Coronado Islands with the Blue Escape, let me know!

Sea you in the Deep Blue!

Neither Mario,

We are going on the Express to Avalon and just do some dives off Casino Point.

Got boat dives scheduled for 7/4 on the Aquatica and 7/7 and 7/8 on a private boat, you are more than welcome to join us. The 7/4 will be cool. It is leaving at 10 for Catalina and then going back to Long Beach for the fireworks, we are supposed to tie up next to the Queen Mary. All of the boat dives will be off Catalina. I normally have to work Saturdays so it's hard to get out, and I normally don't get home til around 3 AM so when boats leave at 6 it makes it a little tough.

I do have 8/25 and 8/26 off and 9/8 and 9/9 if you would like to get together. Haven't gone off Coronado would love to do that or better yet go to wreck alley. Let me know if any of these dates work for you. My girlfriend (who is also my dive buddy) has been wanting to do those dives also.

I just did my first night dive this past Saturday. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great! We planned a dive to 35 ft in Beaver Lake, AR. Dropping below the surface just as the sun set, we moved around slowly, looking at all the fish resting. It was really different. I really enjoyed it when we all turned off our lights. That left us with only glow sticks for light. Everything took on a really cool glow.

The best part was while we were coming back up though. At about 10 ft. we spotted a 2 ft. long catfish hiding under a little rock ledge. We were trying to coax it out when we discovered that it had a hook through it and was snagged on the rocks. A quick snip and she was free! We couldn't get the hook out but at least she can swim now.

All in all, a very cool experience.

Congrats kcDiver, good work with the catfish. The next time you have the opportunity to do a night dive, try waiting a couple of hours after the sun has set, this way you will truely get a chance to interact with nocturnal sealife (lake-life).

I'm quite partial to a good off-gassing,especially after great italian food, but no....The GAS is my first initials and the man because it sounds so much better than boy.
I didn't know they were mermaids! I could only see their back ends and they looked like fish butts to me...heheheheh
Cheers Big Ears,
Gasman

???? Fish butts???? I can't think of a suitable retort...

Gasman, too cool, you should start something called Global Aquanauts Society, and at your first national convention you could serve lotsa beans and beer, and instead of verbal communication you could... well you get the picture right? LOL!

Oh and... You would be amazed at what you (think) see under heavy Narcosis... Suddenly the fish butts in question look downright yummy <Phat Bastard from Austin Power's spy who shagged me, voice> Come here wee one, I'm gonna eat you! I'm higher on the food chain than you, Get in my belly!

You must have been up to about 5 on the martini scale, Mario.... Pleez, NOT the Fat Bastard - you just put me off my breakfast.... (I was just about to take a sip of my coffee - remember that bit?? :p)

You're not talking through your donkey again...
Wait! That doesn't sound right...What's another word for donkey? Smell ya later Holmes...heheheheh
There can be only one....
