An update I completed my first half of my OW certification today without any major problems. My toe was fine now I don't think I broke it after all just a bad sprain. The only real problem I had was with the weight belt it keep falling down, so the instructor put the weight in my BC pocket and I went back to the store this afternoon and got a weight intergrated BC. I am hooked diffinately all the fear and worry is over. I don't know if I was weighted properly the instructor said I used my arms to much, but other than that it was a blast.

Where are you? The instructor put the weights in your pocket...?!

BTW, all newbies use their arms. You'll get over it.

I am in Michigan, but from your area I am very familiar with west Texas I lived in New Mexico for most of my life. He put the weight in my BC pocket.

How does one practice the weight belt removal and recovery maneuver when the weights are in the BC pockets?.....

In addition, you went to your LDS and BOUGHT a weight integrated BC?........
While this may very well be what you end up with, why would they allow you to buy one before the class is done? In addition to this, why would they sell you a BC, KNOWING that the reason behind it is that you had an experience in the pool and your (their) instructor violated-ignored the basics?..........+

Maybe its just me,,,,

Just my .02

He didn't have me go and buy a LDS and a weight integrated BC he had me go change out the BC I had for one with a weight intergrated BC and I was doing my open water dives when I had this problem I didn't have as much of a problem with the weight belt in the pool.
