I have been using an Al 80, but this weekend I am going to use a steel 85. There is also the 36lb pioneer wing too is you are using a bigger tank.

I dive it all the time...no problems yet. I have the Pioneer 27# wing, SS BP, NO STA, and an AL80...the only tank I own is an AL80 and I do not plan to change my wing/BP/setup on this rig at all. When I start diving doubles and/or steel tanks, I am going to get another BP with an explorer wing and just use this rig for rec diving and travel.

IMHO, I could dive a single steel tank with it though...and doubles...come to think of it, Wendy has talked me into not getting another BP and just reconfiguring mine for doubles...that leaves me some money for a good light and a manifold!

Well I don't know the little bass pond we live on seems to. It has a max depth of only 26ft so it gets pretty warm.

I most likely will be buying better (thicker) stuff for doing the lakes once I get the other equipment.

Small lakes can be decieving......

Last year August or September, we went to dive a small inland lake where some freinds have a cottage. At that time of year (from what I hear)the St Lawrence Seaway is warm from surface to 100ffw or so. This shallow lake isn't far from the St Lawrence in NY. We guessed being a small lake and supposedly shallow it should be fairly warm. At the time our warmest suits were 5/3 fullsuits, reef gloves, no hoods.
Well, the first 12-15 ft was just fine, then everything turned black and cccccccccccccold!!! I don't know if this lake is spring fed or what! We were going to look for a lost outboard motor. we couldn't stay down long enough to look for anything!! :cold:
We spent the rest of our dives practicing navigation and other skills in the top/warmer 15ffw
We plan on going back this year. My wife and I both have drysuits now and our son has a 7 mil semi-dry. We also have better lights. :)

Back to your original topic.

My Dive-Rite recwing works well for Aluminum 80's and Steel 100's and 120's. Only singles so far, but the wing will handle doubles. I will move to doubles when I can afford the regs. The wing works well on my Trans-pac II and on my Fred T Heavy BP and harness, with heavy STA

Hope this helps!!

Does a wing setup (or back mounted BC) allow you to easily get and stay vertical? I can understand how it would make staying horizontal easier.

When I dive, I spend most (as much as possible) of my time under water. under water horizontal works best.

At the surface you can get vertical just don't put a lot of air in the wing and lean back , or you canlay right up on top of it on your back, like a big chaise lounge........ah relaxing.;)

if your boat diving, good navigation skills pay off. if you come up at the back of the boat, you don't need to be bobbing around on the surface.

I am again back to leaning to the Zeagle Scout.

Even after (if) I'm ready to move to duel tanks I could always keep it as my warm vacation BC.

I am going to watch the devopment of this as time goes on. But for now I can get this BC for $209 where I would be spending
$245 for BP/Harness/STA & Tank Straps
and anywhere from $175 to $278 for the wings.
(all prices do not include shipping)

I guess for what I want to do now, and the idea of very easy to pack with no extra weight. It is the price of set of single tank wings.

Or am I really going to look back at this with a I TOLD YOU SO?
