My friend and I went diving at La Jolla Cove in San Diego this morning. It was both our first time out since the class about a month ago. I have snorkeled here before so I had a general knowledge of the cove. Despite poor visibility, it went great and we can't wait to do it again. I brought my GoPro and took some videos, and need help identifying these fish.

Thanks!

I dive La Jolla cove all the time, what great diving we have right here in our back yard. Both pictures are of a kelp Bass. Search Reef.org, they have free ID classes that you can take and if you pass you can become a citizen surveyor. If you are ever looking for a buddy PM me, infact I'll be there tomorrow at 0600 for a morning dive before work.

Yep #2 and #3 are kelp (or calico) bass

I dove La Jolla cove last week. The Garibaldi are more orange in the water but I noticed my pictures all came out more yellow especially if I tried to have software clean up the photo.

1. CA State Fish Garibaldi 2 + 3 look like a kelp bass...dont eat the first one, eat the second two...go great in fish tacos!
