and while I think that a bad camera can limit a great photographer, there is no way that your Olympus 4040C can take even partial credit here. I am stunned at the incredible detail brought out in each masterpiece. Thanks for sharing, and please tell us when the first book is coming out.

Dee - your photos are magnificent. The colour rendition and resolution are really great.

Can I check - the Olympus you are using is not a dedicated underwater camera is it? Which casing are you using?

Does anyone know of reliably watertight, multi-purpose housings that might protect lesser digital cameras down to depths of 40 or 50 feet?

Mike

Mike....Jonothan beat me to it. Yes, the Olympus is a land camera that needs a housing. I chose the Oly PT-010 because it was made for the camera, not adapted to fit it. It's clear which allows me to keep an eye out for leaks. It also makes it possible to use the strobe I like with a fiber optic cable...no sync cord also means no mechanical flooding problems. With a depth rating of 90'ish feet, it may mean a minor adjustment in some dive plans but I have to admit that I took it down to 123 ft before I thought about it! The housing groaned a bit but didn't leak....whew! I'll definitely be more careful in the future.

Another big plus was the price, only about $300 total compared to over $800 for others.

I'm totally happy with both the camera and housing.

Click Here for a few more pictures. The first three galleries are with this camera/housing set-up.

Thank you...and everyone else....for your compliments, it means alot.

Welcome back Dee! And thanks for the beautiful photos. Like buff said, makes one want to go out and buy a digital cam too!

WOW!!!!

I really like the picture of the "stick lobster" (or what ever it is). I definitely want to check out your system and talk to you about it.

And as I work toward completion of the TSDT website, I'll definitely be in touch so I can use some of your photos!

excellent pix ...very pretty!

just the camera with built in flash for the shots?
wat depth were you at ? vis ?

:D

Thanks, glad you like them.

Alot of the macro/zoom photos were taken with only the builtin strobe. The visibility varied from 50 to 100+ feet but it was only evident on wide angle shots, except for some backscatter in a few of the close ones. Depths also varied.

i love these pictures. they are so colorful and truely show off the beauty of the underwater world. amazing work! keep it up!

I've been wondering how you've been getting along with your new toy. Obviously the two of you have been playing very nice together!
