MikeC:puffer, there is an on-line firearms/hunting company selling this stuff. If you want a link, PM me. I'm not sure if they can export it, might be covered by some US export rules.
Several things about Quik Clot, first it has a shelf life of several years, the stuff the on-line company was selling expired sometime in 2006, next it is temperature sensitive. I forget the max temp, but you don't want to leave it inside the car with the windows up on a 99 degree day. Finally, some reports say that it doesn't work 100% on heavy bleeding wounds. I haven't used it myself, but I may leave it to the pros for a year or two then add it to my kit. (See how it works in a non-military role.)
There are no export regs for Quick Clot.
Shelf life is four years if vacuum sealed pouch remains unsealed.
No temperature restrictions as far as storage. Just leave it on dive boat or in your glove compartment.
The material is just sterilized processed zeolite so like any sponge it is possible for the degree of bleeding to overwhelm the amount of material placed in the wound. The idea of the product is to stem bleeding which it does very well until further definitive care is located. If one is out on a liveaboard or a week into the bush canoeing or hiking this is the stuff to bring along.
The price is going up on this stuff mid February by about twenty five percent.
I just ordered some more from The Supply Captain in NY. The Battle Pack is $38 and the individual packs are $21. Tel. 845-656-7581 and I have no financial interest in Quik Clot!
