Today marked the completion of the last requirement for my PADI Divemaster rating.

I think I did this as it ought to be; I have over 900 dives now, and a tech cert, and a Full Cave cert. I have something to offer students, both in terms of being a role model and in terms of information and experience in cold and warm water, in a variety of places.

I'm looking forward to doing the things a DM can do.

Yep, you did it the right way. Congratulations!

Congrats

Trace - Nope, she didn't make coffee either! In fact, THIS PADI "shop" is a Coffee-Free entity -- Tea only please! (Or Scotch!)

It looks like she'll be part of an instructor's group that will be multi-agency, multi-discipline and I hope, Multi- Student but we won't have insurance until July so she'll not start her new career until then.

Don, I agree with you that the situational awareness I've had drilled into me is VERY useful in working with students -- in fact, doing that has honed my SA even further, as what my teammates do is generally predictable, but what students do is NOT :)

Congratulations!! I always liked being a DM better than an Instructor. The more you work with students, the better you will get on predicting what each student will do in certain situations. You have now started on an entirely different diving journey! Such fun.

Something about the notion of the Borg Queen being a PADI DM just makes me giggle ...

It makes me giggle, too, when I'm not shaking my head in disbelief :)

Lynne, I know you will throw your big heart and generous soul into making your new students the very best of divers. I envy your students-to-be, I truly do. And for all you have done for me as a SB mentor, I thank you.

And Please - don't forget us here on SB!!! With every post you influence thousands of us, in ways you cannot imagine. You are truly a Living Treasure.

Now THAT'S news ... oh, cool ...
