Hi! My finance and I are interested in becoming certified for two trips we have coming up. One in St. Thomas this December and then for our honeymoon in May in Cozumel.

I'm sure there's lots of great advice and information to be had here on scubaboards and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Wendy (and Mike)

Hi Wendy,

Welcome to ScubaBoard! My folks got certified in St Thomas last year and are getting their AOW there in a week or so with the same person. If you like, I can find out what the name is.

Hi Wendy :D, and welcome to ScubaBoard. If you fill out your profile a little more we'll all be able to give you better advice. When I did my certification, I did the pool and class work locally. I then did my check out dives in the warm waters of Cancun. The way to go in my opinion. Good luck and have fun diving.

There are several dive shops in the Chicago area. You can do your classroom and confined water work there and get a referral to do your open water check-out dives in warmer water, during your vacation.

My daughter did that and it worked well. She did her check-out dives on two of the boats I use. Very convenient.

Anyhow, Good Luck both in diving and your marriage.

Welcome to the board!
