Just took my new HP120 in for a visual and fill. LDS had quoted me a much higher price and I bought online. ($150 difference) He was obviously aware when I brought in a tank not purchased from him.

While I waited he assembled the valve, did a visual, logged tank into their tracking system, filled the tank and apologized it would be short once it cooled. He offered to wait and top it off later today or I can take it and return for a full fill/top-off later.

$15 total bill and he offered to carry it out to my truck for me. He remembered I like my Visa slip in my wallet instead of stapled to receipt (from the ONE time I was in there before) He is bringing in some SMB's for me to look at from anther store.

HE GETS IT!!! I will continue to shop with him whenever I can and will definately recommend him to others.

Finally a LDS that gets the idea...

I guess that I am fortunate that my LDS is fairly competitive with online prices. The amount that they are higher is made up in the customer service that I have received.

I think this is something important that LDS's need to remember or else it will be rocky for them in the future.

I think any GOOD LDS will recognize that a customer is not always going to make their purchase's at just one shop. The difference is going to be making every time you step into their shop a pleasant one no matter how big or how small the purchase is.

What I've been wondering ........

From reading the stories, it seems like taking in a tank for VIP not purchased at an LDS can many times gain the scorn of the proprietors.

What happens if you've just moved to the area? Do you have to explain yourself to them in order to not be ripped off?

Thanks for the report of an LDS who treats their customers with respect and is wise enough to recognize that some business from a customer is better than no business at all.

Aloha, Tim

Especially since I saw a Dive Rite Transpac II hanging there that now has drool marks on it. I may have to try it out this spring to see if I like it. Oh yeah, and the SMB he has coming in for me.

I will continue to shop there as opposed to the LDS I certified with. To me that is a sad statement.
