After much reading, 5 request for ideas threads and 24 pool practice sessions I finally am feeling comfortable with buoyancy and trim. I would have never made it happen without all of your help and suggestions. You have proved that you can teach old dogs new tricks. Scubaboarders are the best. :D

I'm off to Isla Mujeres next week to practice with a little current and surge.

Take a look the the quick video to see the old guy's progress

Congratulations :flowers: That's one of the things SB is here for. Another thing we are here for is to share the fun so come on back and share some pics and a trip report. Now you will be able to help other new members too sharing what worked for you :clapping:

That's great to hear!

The shallow depth that amplifies everything that makes buoyancy control a challenge and water pink ponging off the walls can make pool diving more difficult than you'd expect. I predict with some depth in open water you will be very pleased with your new found control.

For surge a few extra pounds of lead can be handy. Dive with the surge swimming forward when it wants to help you.
