That was easy. Actually it was alot easier than I thought. I took the wire with me when I went to a shop asking if they had adaptors from u.s. plug to finnish plug. Found out that it's illeagal to sell them in Finland but as I had my wire with me it turned out that it's just a standard cord and they had a pile of those.
Illegal to sell U.S.-to Euro adapters in Finland??

But it's perfectly legal to sell them the other way around?

Hmmm....

So... instead of replacing the plug, you replaced the whole wire with the plug? Did the shop do it for you? Did they have to open up the adapter case?

Anyway, glad it worked out... trust me, much better than using an adapter all the time...

For some reason it's illeagal to sell u.s. to finland adapters but it certainly is leagal to sell them other way around. Crazy world. The wire is detachable from the battery charger so I bought a new wire no plugs changed or anything. It seems to be a standard wire many companies use as power cords from electric plug to the machine. I have a huge bulky adapter but the european (finnish) plug doesn't work and as it's so big it tends to drop if you don't put something to hold it in the wall :)

Oh yeah... you mean the type of wire/power cord that has a figure-8-shaped plug on the adapter end, similar to a laptop computer (though the two may not be interchangeable)? You were very lucky the adapter was made that way... any Media Markt would carry those cords.

Cheers!

But there's only this one tiny problem. As I live in Finland I need to find a plug for adapting the us electricity plug to a finnish one. Other way around it'd be easy as all the shops are full of adapters but hope I can find one that goes the other way around aswell. Got also the pt-023 and man is that thing huge! I kinda figured that it'll be a big housing but didn't realize that it's just that big! The lens is the size of a cd! Now off to find the adapter.

Congratulations on your choice. I am sitting here with the manual and trying to learn all of the buttons and features on my brand new C-8080. I agree that the housing is huge. I too was surprised and look forward to learning it later. I asked for advice on another website about this outfit and was told to trade it for a 7070 due to the lens. I have a lot to learn but it will be both frustrating and fun.
Good Luck

And just ask way Dan, congratulations on your 8080 as well. May I ask why they suggested trading it in for a 7070? What were the problems with the 8080’s SLR type of lens? The 7070 has a smaller CCD chip, 1mp less and from what I hear has focusing problems and will not fire on the S macro mode for about the same price of an 8080!

It was all this negative press that made me look in to an 8080 in the first place, then coming to find out that this camera and its accessories covers almost everything I could hope for in an UW photographic system. And the dollar value of the 8080 plus the PT-23 UW is incredible! Imagine for less than $1000 total you could be shooting razor sharp 8mp, knockout color images right out of box!

Haven't got a change to go out and shoot something reasonable but even flashing in my apartment is so much fun. Can't wait until I get this camera figured out. First it felt a bit slow when it came to autofocusing. Well I've used to my old canon a-70 which is one of the fastest focusers of it's time. Man it's nice to get new toys. Now I need to figure out at least how to set the custom white balance my eyes closed and hands tied behind my back since I don't have a strobe yet. Figured that I need to learn this camera first and only then start spending more bucks on strobes and suchs.

Basically I was told because of the size and the UW lens is not a able to do wide angle. I was going with a smaller P/S Canon and started looking at Olympus after diving with some people that had 5050 and 5060's. I also looked at some photo's that someone made U/W photo's that were outstanding. I think some of it comes from "professionals" that nitpick about capabilities that 99% of never use. I am happy. It was a good deal.
