Sunday and Monday I did my checkout dives in Ft. Weatherhill. We had an awesome time, and the weather and water were wonderful. I was afraid that the water would be cold, but with my 7mm the 55-degree water was downright pleasant.

Viz was good (to my newbie eyes), at least until I started bouncing off the bottom trying to get my buoyancy ok. Think I need to lock myself into a pool and practice buoyancy over and over.

So when's the next get-together? I'm tired of being a NELD associate member.

Anyone up for Stonington on Sunday?

Wind-

I was there both days as well. What dive shop did you go with?

Dave

Jack's Dive Center -- no marked vehicle, but we had the big white box truck both days, and a boat on Sunday. Monday we had a cookout in the parking lot.

We were diving in the right-hand cove both mornings. Where were you?

Hey, I might have seen your group, Wind. I was passing though, coming back from Warwick, when I stopped to just walk around. We'll have to hook up sometime this summer, since I'm also from Bristol, over on the Terryville side. Thinking of taking a couple of random days off this month, and hitting Ft. Weth when it's not crowded.

alas, I've hit my quota of random days off this month (well, and last month) so the mid-week thing won't work. If you come up with anything interesting for the weekends, though, let me know. I hope to get at least 2 or 3 dives a weekend in preparation for a San Diego trip in July

San Diego, CA. We have a family reunion in Phoenix, then we're driving to CA for siteseeing. My brother and I hope to spend a few days diving while the kids go to LegoLand and the zoo

Ah Windminstrel

You guys almost ran over my flag when launching the boat. I had the flag with the ugly blue buoy attached to it. I was just exploring the shallows at the end of my dive. By the way, I'm a good freind of Earl's. Did you guys dive the arches and how was it.

Chris

Ed at Diver's Cove in Essex usually sponsers a fun dive every Wednesday night. He sends along a divemaster with the group.
It is a great way to meet new people and get those first dives in. You will even do a night dive at some point. By the way Ed is very easygoing and very freindly. He doesn't push sales or come on in a threatening manner like some other shops do. I suggest you look him up and give his shop a call and tell em Chris sent ya.

Keep it quiet though and don't tell D.M. you are going to another shop if you still want to dive off his boat.
