Go balls-out and do the Hotel Del Coronado. It's, by a wide margin, the best hotel in town and a short trip from Mission Beach. It's located on North Island (everybody calls in Coronado Island for some reason) which has a very nice atmosphere I must say.

Great bars, places to eat, etc... Feel free to hit me up if you have any San Diego questions. It's actually my job to find awesome stuff to do here.

If you're stayin at the Hyatt ... then cross over the SD River (head east on W. Mission Bay Dr right on Sunset Cliffs Blvd)to Ocean Beach stay on Sunset Cliffs Blvd there are two arguably the best Mexican Rest in San Diego which specialize in vegetarian ... "Ranchos" is on the corner of Sunset Cliffs and Niagara. "Ortega's Mexican Cucina" is on Sunset Cliffs and Newport (actually hang a right on Newport and right before the next intersection Cable Street its on your right hand side). Both will change your opinion about Mexican cuisine forever ...hands down the best in SoCal. There are no other Mexican Rest in SoCal who even understand how to cook like these two rest ... its a world apart...

Italian? The Venetian ... Sunset Cliffs Blvd . left on Voltaire its on the right hand side just before Chatsworth. The Best Italian? Busalacchis Restaurant on Fifth Hill Crest area ...8 East 163 South exit 6 th Ave head down 6th to Spence St take a right another right on 5th and the rest is on your right hand side.

Don't waste your time in Mission Beach or Pacific beach they cater to the college crowd. Unless you're looking for Sushi then stay in MB or PB ... Course if money is no issue then head up to La Jolla

Last there is a killer Vegan/vegetarian rest on Sunset and Santa Monica in OB ...again Sunset Cliffs to Santa Monica turn right its half way down the street on the right.

Best time of the yr to dive ...good choice ... ocean is usually calm, no marine layer, nice and warm and great vis ... enjoy!

Why not stay at the Bahia ...www.bahiahotel.com this place is the front row when it comes to Mission Bay
