Surface swim wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be...it didn't seem much further than the surface swim at La Jolla shores (to get to the canyon). Overall it was a pretty impressive reef structure with a good amount of fish, lots of gorgonians etc, but vis was only about 10-15ft; this site seems like it would be WAY more impressive with high vis. Next time Laguna is having a 20+ day, I'm going to head out again. Thanks for the map maxbottomtime...it definitely helped.

We did Deadman's on our first trip to SoCal. I have to say I had a different opinion of the surface swim! We had virtually opaque water for the first 20 feet or so, but then 30 or 40 feet of viz in the dark water below. It was a great dive, with tons of life. I'd just take a scooter next time . . . :)

I found it by having Claudette put my SMB on it when see went out there with the scooter. The surface swim isn't that bad.
