Finallly overcame the fear!

After months and months of saying I was going to do it... I am finally certified! A BIG fear of water has kept me from it but I really want to see everything that my husband and son kept talking about so that helped push me along. Classes weren't easy but I chose my instructor and had private classes. Then I chose my open water instructor. Both instructors were patient and worked with me on issues that I had and allowed my husband to be with me in the water ( which was a comfort issue for me).

Congrats. Remember if you are still a little nervous you can always hire a instructor to dive with you on the first couple of dives after training until you get more comfortable.

Congrats, that's a huge accomplishment. Try to keep the fear away but always respect the water. I have a few similar concerns, it helps keep me grounded, but I plan to enjoy the heck out of my next dive trip. The fish and the coral seem to make it all melt away.

I certified after my husband and son also. It took me about 20 dives before things started to come together. The more experience you get...the better. Congratulations and hope you have a great time with it!
